About the Yosemite Flute Festival

Yosemite Flute and Art Festival is a place where people who love the Native American flute and world music come together to share their passion. We offer local art and musicians from across the country. Join us for music and a fun filled weekend in Oakhurst, California, The Gateway to Yosemite National Park. This event is organized by the Yosemite Flute Circle and The Northern California Flute Circle. Our Sponsors Emerson Institute is an educational division of the Positive Living Center Corporation of Central California, Inc. It is accredited by the Accrediting Commission International for Schools, Colleges and Theological Seminaries. It is headquartered in Oakhurst, California and is under the direction of Dr. Angelo Pizelo, its founder and director. Since its beginnings in 1992 Emerson has promoted an understanding and embodiment of the Universal Principles so that each person can pursue unlimited spiritual, emotional, intellectual, and social potential. Northern California Flute Circle is a group of friends who love Native American Flute music. We range from total beginners to exquisitely talented musicians, and all are welcome. During our flute circles we further our understanding of the Native American Flute-how to play it, how to make one, it's history, etc. We often experiment with playing with other players and we sometimes do exercises that expand our skills a bit.

Open Mic Performances

We have a beautiful park setting for our festival with a Gazebo for open mic performances. We will offer time slots for performances all three days of the festival. We can not guarantee any specific day or time slot. If you have a preference we will try to accommodate it. We will finalize the schedule in early August. All requests must be submitted before July 31, 2008. This is a world music experience. Groups of performers will be given a 20 minute time slot. Individuals will be given only 10 minutes. You will need to confirm your attendance with the open mic organizers before 10:00am the day you are assigned to perform. Be at the Gazebo and ready to perform 15 minutes prior to your time slot.
